About Us

Growing Together for a Colorful Future

The Bay Area Chrysanthemum Society (BACS) was formed in July 2013.  We are a chapter of the National Chrysanthemum Society (NCS). Our mission is to promote the cultivation, preservation, and the showing of large exhibition type and garden type chrysanthemums, expanding their use in the home garden.

BACS provides chrysanthemum education and encourages camaraderie with fellow growers and home gardeners. Our founders are long-time chrysanthemum enthusiasts and among the finest chrysanthemum growers in the United States.

Our advisers/members include the President of the NCS, the Chairperson of the Classification Committee of NCS, an Associate Editor of The Chrysanthemum (The Journal of NCS), NCS master judges, former professional chrysanthemum growers, and Master Gardeners.

We are very proud that, of all the chapters in NCS, BACS has attracted the greatest number of new members for several years in a row. The majority of our members are in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, but we have members from Oregon, Washington State, Maryland, North Carolina, and even as far as Japan.
