About Us

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN AND PLAY.

The Bay Area Chrysanthemum Society (BACS) was formed in July 2013.  We are a chapter of the National Chrysanthemum Society. Our mission is to promote the cultivation, preservation, and to show both large exhibition and garden-type chrysanthemums, expanding their use in the home garden.

BACS provides chrysanthemum education and encourages camaraderie with fellow growers and home gardeners. Our founders are long-time chrysanthemum enthusiasts and among the finest chrysanthemum growers in the United States.

Our advisers/members include the President of the National Chrysanthemum Society (NCS), the Chairperson of the Classification Committee of NCS, an Associate Editor of The Chrysanthemum (The Journal of NCS), NCS Master Judges, former professional chrysanthemum grower, and Master Gardeners.

Of all the chapters in NCS, BACS has attracted the greatest number of new members for several years in a row. We have 100 members as of 10/21/2019.  BACS, the largest chapter in membership, includes growers from the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington State and as far afield as Japan, with associate members in California, Maryland, North Carolina, and Oregon.

BACS is a non-profit Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501 (c) (3) organization. Donors can deduct contributions they make to BACS under IRC Section 170.  Your donation is highly appreciated!
